What do skydiving, poker and tequila have in common? It’s Skydive Elsinore’s Poker Run! The California competition celebrated its 20-year anniversary on June 17 thanks to Thomas Allen and his 4-way team, High Pressure (Dave Nissen, Heather Nissen, Tammi Rettig and camera flyer Rob Ross), which had the vision to start this fun event. During the competition, 6-way teams—each assigned a handicap—fly five rounds. After each round, a member of each team draws a poker card. After the judges score the rounds and hand out medals, it’s time to play the poker hand. The winner of the hand buys pizza for everyone, which is needed to soak up the tequila shots that the tequila master hands out for various infractions such as losing a bootie on exit or brain locking on a point. Anal 6 (Josh Hall, Cat Isgrigg, Patrick Lehner, Sara Mueller, Max Savin and Brian Young with Jason Reis on video) took first place in the 6-way competition. Sechs Panthers came in second (and also took the poker pot), while team Kiss Her and Poker placed third.
