Fluid Wings began taking orders for its newest wing, the Echo, on February 14. The company produces the canopy, which it aims at intermediate jumpers who are looking for more performance than a basic entry-level wing, in 107-, 120-, 135-, 150- and 170-square-foot models. Fluid Wings stated, “The Echo is part of an ongoing project to set new standards for all types of parachutes. The addition builds on the already successful lineup of wings that Fluid Wings produces and builds on the success of the 2018 release of the Gangster.”
The Echo is a 9-cell wing with a tri-taper leading edge and STX mini ribs at the trailing edge. It uses the same technology for shaping, inflation and pressurization that Fluid uses for its high-performance wings. Test pilots reported easy openings, responsive flight that is manageable and a long recovery arc.
More information on the canopy, which has a base price of about $2,600, is available at fluidwings.com/echo.
