In May, USPA promoted Steve Hubbard to director of the competition and records department, which is responsible for the USPA National Championships, the U.S. Parachute Team, competitive events and skydiving records.
He succeeds Randy Connell, who vacated the position after four years at USPA. USPA hired Hubbard last December as the part-time competition coordinator, a position that became full time in March.
Hubbard earned a Bachelor of Science degree in information technology in 2005 after serving as an infantryman in the U.S. Army Airborne. He began skydiving in 2011 and worked as IT manager for both Mirage Systems and Aerodyne Research from 2013- 2017. He has logged more than 3,300 jumps and has competed in two USPA National Championships of Wingsuit Flying, a USPA National Skydiving Championships and a Fédération Aéronautique Internationale World Cup of Wingsuit Flying. He holds national and international judge ratings and judged a USPA National Championships of Wingsuit Flying and an FAI World Championships of Wingsuit Flying.
“We are very fortunate to have Steve right here and right now,” said Executive Director Ed Scott. “He brings us technical know-how, personal experience in competition and records and a fierce dedication to serving our members.”
