Just prior to the start of the winter 2020 meeting of USPA’s board of directors, an anonymous donor presented a gift—a wooden gavel with an engraved stand—to the board in memory of Central Regional Director Gary Peek, D-8884. Peek, who served as a Regional Director for 23 years, passed away unexpectedly in August 2019, just after the summer board meeting. From the time of his first election in 1997, he served on the board as a vocal advocate of the individual skydiver member. The USPA President will use the gavel at every board meeting going forward, including the upcoming September 18-20 meeting in Nashville. The inscription on the base plate reads:

“In honor and memory of Gary Peek

      ‘Gary Gavel’

   To always serve our membership.”
