On March 21, the Museum of History in Granite—a permanent installation of historical panels depicting world history in Felicity, California—inscribed Alicia Moorehead’s name on the Hall of Fame of Parachuting panel. Jacques-André Istel, known as the “father of American skydiving,” initiated the Museum of History in Granite project. Istel holds D-2 and I-1—the first instructor rating issued by USPA from an era when it numbered ratings.
Moorehead holds international recognition for her involvement with POPS (Parachutists Over Phorty Society), which members founded in 1966 in the USA and now has chapters in many countries around the world. She served twice as the USA TopPOP #9 and #13. As World TopPOP #2 (1997–99), she planned the POPS 1999 World Meet in Chilliwack, British Columbia.
Alicia served as a prominent organizing member of the California Aerial Circus which presented parachuting performances for many audiences in the USA and overseas in the 1980s and 1990s. She began her skydiving career at the Hinckley, Illinois, Parachute Center in 1978.
