In October, Skydive Elsinore celebrated 21 years of one of the biggest boogies in Southern California: Chicks Rock. As always, the boogie featured an outstanding list of load organizers, including Danielle Barlow, Amberly Brown, Amelia Camille, Lori Kraemer Clark, Marie Clark, Jackie Ellis, Brooke Frame, Christy Frikken, Katie Hansen, Cat Isgrigg, Leah Levy, Giovanna Natel Robison, Katie Piele, Jennifer Pierce, Chazi Rutz and Kelly Salters. Sponsors Advanced Aerospace Designs, Aerodyne Research, Airtec, Alti-2, Bonehead, Cookie Helmets, Fluid Wings, Freefall Data Systems, Gold State Gear, Head Set Low, iFly Oceanside, Larsen & Brusgaard, Liquid Sky Sports, Option Studios, Para-Gear Equipment Company, Performance Designs, Rock Fitness, Skydive Wings, SSK Industries, United Parachute Technologies and Velocity Sports Equipment provided amazing support and generous prize packages.

With the boogie opening on Friday, October 7, jumpers left work early and headed to the DZ to get started. Friday night featured the traditional Beer Pong contest, with Josh Logan and Steve Mailloux ultimately taking the trophy and the money pot.

Saturday began fast and furious, with the Skydive Elsinore aircraft fleet—including the newly purchased Skyvan—efficiently getting jumpers in the sky. The pace slowed down slightly when a much-needed rain storm passed through, and the downtime gave Thea Davies the opportunity to win a Liquid Sky jumpsuit by winning a foot race against other jumpers who were willing to run in the rain and mud.

Saturday night is always the highlight of the Chicks Rock Boogie. This year, the night swoop jumps featured a performance by the U.S. Canopy Formation Team, Skydive Elsinore Revolution, that included pyrotechnics. After dinner, D.J. Moo Tang got the party started. Chelsea Maria Hill, a newly licensed jumper who traveled from Berkeley, California, for the boogie won the Glow Costume Contest, taking home a huge prize package.

On Sunday morning, jumpers were ready to hit it hard again and took to the sky. They didn’t slow down until sunset. All told, jumpers made 2,552 skydives during the event!
