SIS Members Spend Easter Weekend In Perris

More than 100 skydivers from near and far registered for the event, including a few from the United Kingdom! Participants made more than 600 jumps over the three-day weekend. Aerodyne Research, Innovative Parachute Technologies, Larsen and Brusgaard, Skyleno and Square 1 sponsored the fun and donated prizes for Saturday night’s party.

On Friday, the registrants picked up their goodie bags and began making organized jumps. The ladies enjoyed formation skydiving coaching from Dan Brodsky-Chenfeld and Grace Katz, as well as freefly coaching from Veronica Giraldo and Sam Smith. By the end of the day, the registrants (the youngest a true Little Sister at only 11 years old) also flew more than three hours in the wind tunnel.

Balloon jumps started Saturday morning at 5:30 a.m., and more than 30 jumpers woke up early to partake. During the day, participants had the opportunity to make high-altitude jumps in addition to a plethora of organized jumps. Then after sundown, the fun continued with night jumps. More than 70 jumpers participated (a drop zone record), and 39 of those were first-time night jumpers.

When jumping ended, the Masquerade Ball began. Everyone showed up in their best formal attire and masks. The drop zone hosted a raffle, and grand-prize winner Rebecca Wu took home an almost-complete skydiving system (some of which she donated to Little Sisters in need). The biggest surprise of the evening was a marriage proposal and acceptance!

Sunday morning started with briefings for the day’s helicopter and biplane jumps, and the organized jumps began. It was quite the sight to see a Twin Otter, Skyvan, helicopter and biplane dropping jumpers in a perfectly coordinated rotation.

After the weekend, payments for the beer debts incurred from all the firsts could have filled a fuel tanker! The weekend was such a great time that one of the ladies who was considering leaving the sport decided to stay in it due to the experiences she had during the boogie.
