United Parachute Technologies and Sun Path Products are joining forces to co-sponsor the development, training and sale of the Mutant supine harness, which is geared toward highly experienced canopy pilots. This is the first time the direct competitors have worked together to this extent in the sport market. While UPT has spearheaded the design and development of the system via inventor Vince Reffett and Daniel Blignaut, Sun Path has supported the involvement of its Performance Designs Factory Team athletes in test jumping and implementing training programs for the harness, as well as using it in competition.
Ian Bobo of Flight-1 and the PD Factory Team has played an integral role in fine-tuning the product for competition, as well as the development of the course curriculum for use of the harness. With his help bridging the gap between the two manufacturers, all training courses for qualified Mutant candidates run through Flight-1. Additionally, all PD Factory Team members will begin training on Mutant harnesses for competition and will help market the product to the broader public.
While UPT and Sun Path are direct competitors, both companies are dedicated to the progression of the sport, and the Mutant release shows skydivers what is possible when everyone works together. Jumpers with questions about the harness may email mutant@uptvector.com.
