In November, a team of formation skydivers and night-jump enthusiasts gathered at Skydive Arizona in Eloy to build large, multi-point formations with complete breaks between points. The international team, led by Steve Woodford, has returned year after year to take on the challenge of building big-ways at night. With the team’s depth of experience (most of the participants were on the 64-way Fédération Aéronautique Internationale World Record for Largest Night Formation Skydive set in June 2019), confidence was high. Airtec, Hel-Star, Innovative Parachute Technologies and Sun Path Products sponsored the event.

Woodford designed a skydive that included three distinct points with complete breaks in between. The sequence was both aesthetically pleasing and challenging, avoiding the patty-cake look of some sequential moves. After several successful jumps both during the day and in the evening, the team built a four-point 22-way formation with complete breaks between points under the light of the moon on November 9. The jumpers were Ebby Boehm, Tony Bourke, Mike Canary, Dave Dow, Franck Eloffe, Georgy Kiss, Joost Luijsterburg, Scott Macario, Latency McLaughlin, Corey Mendoza, Linnea Norby, Doug Pinkham, Mauro Ravanelli, Jose Rios, Sergey Sergienko, Jonas Siksnelis, Dillon Smith, Alex Swindle, Derek Thomas, Vladimir Ursachi, Louis Villa and Steve Woodford. Andrey Veselov was the camera flyer.

The team is currently working through the process required to certify a record at the world level and hopes to have it complete soon.
