Jump for the Rose donated a record-shattering $70,000 to The Rose—a breast-cancer facility that provides healthcare to insured and uninsured men and women—at The Rose’s Christmas party on December 12 in Houston, Texas. Since 2010, Jump for the Rose has raised more than $230,000 for the facility. Founder Marian Sparks and the skydiving community, especially Skydive Spaceland–Houston in Rosharon, Texas—which hosts the annual JFTR Pinkfest Boogie—are very proud of the accomplishment.
USPA Gulf Regional Director Chuck Akers and Skydive Spaceland General Manager Steve Boyd accompanied Sparks to the event, where she presented the check to Dorothy Gibbons and Dixie Melillo, co-founders of The Rose. Sparks also recognized JFTR’s biggest 2018 contributors, Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Silsbee, Texas, and Vermont Skydiving Adventures in Addison.
JFTR will continue to raise money for The Rose in 2019. Those who are interested in helping or hosting an event at their DZ can contact Sparks at marian@jumpfortherose.org. Information about the October 5-6 Pinkfest Boogie at Skydive Spaceland–Houston is available at jumpfortherose.org.
