The International Skydiving Museum & Hall of Fame announced that it has selected Phil Chiocchio as the recipient of its Trustee’s Award. Chiocchio began skydiving in 1964 at age 16 and soon became an instructor and jumpmaster. He also became interested in film, earning a Master of Fine Arts degree. Combining his interests in skydiving and film, Chiocchio has created audiovisual programs for the Museum since 2011.

The Museum also announced that it is honoring the 1988 Seoul Olympic Skydiving Exhibition Team with the Museum’s inaugural Path of Excellence Award. In 1988, the team altered the world’s perception of skydiving for the better when it performed a skydiving exhibition—including a freefall formation in the shape of the Olympic rings—as part of the opening ceremony of the 24th Olympiad in Seoul, South Korea. An estimated 1.6 billion viewers in 160 countries watched the event on television.

The Museum will present both awards at its annual celebration event November 2-4 at Skydive City Zephyrhills in Florida. The celebration will also include the annual Hall of Fame induction ceremony; a 10-way speedstar competition; a canopy piloting meet; Jumpers Over Seventy record attempts; a high-altitude forum featuring Luke Aikins, Alan Eustace, Colonel Joe Kittinger and Art Thompson; a canopy piloting forum with Greg Windmiller; a pioneers lunch sponsored by Strong Enterprises and more.
