Stephen Dickson Sworn in as FAA Administrator

On August 12, U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao swore in Stephen Dickson as the 18th administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration. Recently retired as the senior vice president of flight operations for Delta Air Lines, Dickson will oversee a $16.4 billion-dollar budget and more than 47,000 employees. He takes over from Acting FAA Administrator Daniel Elwell.

During his career, Dixon was an Airbus 320 captain and flew the Boeing 727, 737, 757 and 767 aircraft. He served as chairman of several industry groups and federal advisory committees. A former United States Air Force officer and F-15 fighter pilot, Dickson is a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy and the Georgia State University College of Law.
