NTSB to Consider Stricter Part 91 Regulations

By press release, the National Transportation Safety Board announced its intent to consider stricter regulatory requirements for some types of revenue passenger-carrying general aviation operations. The safety board included “parachute jump flights” among the other general aviation operations it plans to discuss during a virtual meeting on March 23. Current FAA regulations do not require skydiving flights to hold a commercial operating certificate. USPA opposed the NTSB grounds for additional regulation in a February 12 letter to the safety board, which described declining fatal skydiving aircraft accidents along with our analysis of the effectiveness of previous NTSB recommendations. A link to the webcast will be available shortly before the start of the meeting at http://ntsb.windrosemedia.com/
