North Dakota Skydiving Museum Opens in West Fargo

Megean Solberg poses inside the North Dakota Skydiving Museum.

On February 2, a year after the passing of Skydive Fargo founder Donald J. Solberg, Skydive Fargo and The Donald J. Solberg North Dakota Legacy Foundation opened a skydiving museum in West Fargo, close to the drop zone. The North Dakota Skydiving Museum holds 60 years of Solberg’s skydiving memorabilia, along with current skydiving gear. The space is half museum, half Skydive Fargo office space. People can walk in and look at the exhibits, as well as get information on how to make a first skydive. Instructors, club members and students are available on site to answer questions and assist.

Megean Solberg established the Donald J. Solberg North Dakota Legacy Skydiving Foundation in honor of her father’s legacy and pioneering of the sport in the state of North Dakota. It offers one skydive per season to a first-time jumper. The foundation takes applications from April 1-30 and selects a recipient on May 15, with the hopes of the jump taking place on June 21, Don Solberg’s birthday. The first recipient, Lindsey Larsen, made her skydive on July 9, 2024.

The museum is located at 113 Main Avenue East in West Fargo and there is no admission charge, although donations are accepted. The museum offers free popcorn and coffee for visitors to enjoy while they are walking through. Museum memberships are also available, which offer incentives and perks, including a T-shirt, membership card and bag.

More information about the museum is available by emailing donaldsolbergskydive@gmail.com or calling (701) 532-1814.
