Nationals Update

Due to continuing uncertainties regarding the COVID-19 pandemic and after reviewing more than 450 responses to a survey of recent competitors, Skydive City Zephyrhills decided—with USPA’s full support—to decline to host the 2020 USPA Skydiving and Parachuting National Championships scheduled for October 30-November 21. The survey revealed significant competitor concern about health risks, travel and other unforeseeable government restrictions, finances and ability to train.  Protecting the health of competitors, staff, vendors, volunteers and spectators was an important consideration. USPA fully understands and accepts Skydive City’s conclusion that hosting a safe National Championships at their drop zone is not viable at this time. Skydive City’s full statement is available here: uspa.org/zhillsstatement.

The USPA Board is now considering options for the 2020 USPA Nationals, knowing that it must make any plans quickly. Even so, future pandemic-related events could well affect that decision. USPA will provide an update as soon as possible. USPA members who wish to comment are invited to contact Director of Competition Steve Hubbard at competition@uspa.org.
