The Ritz Hosts Memorial Weekend Boogie

By Chazi Blacksher

Skydive West Plains “the Ritz” in Ritzville, Washington, hosted a great Memorial Weekend Boogie May 24-27. Weather didn’t allow jumping on Friday, but the evening potluck, karaoke and bonfire made up for it. Saturday proved to be a busy jumping day, with boogie-goers enjoying hybrid, angle, formation skydiving and freefly jumps. An onsite food truck kept jumpers fueled throughout the day, and a catered barbecue took care of everyone’s hunger after the sun went down. Sunday’s jumps kept everyone smiling. The activities on Monday—Memorial Day—included flag jumps and a freefly dive with a tube and smoke.

The DZ’s father-daughter team—DZO Rex Menke and General Manager Kara Kruse—kept the Caravan turning. For each jump, participants earned tickets to a raffle for great prizes from Adidas, Aerodyne Research, Chuting Star, Cookie Helmets, Larsen & Brusgaard, LiquidSky Suits, Skydive Wings, United Parachute Technologies and Vertical Suits. During the event, Skydive West Plains showed that it’s more than a mid-sized DZ; it’s a sweet community with awesome locals who create great memories and share the love of skydiving.
